Fukushima

From notes, to structure, to research to write -ups, 9 uppers put together pieces on the Fukushima disaster today.  Their written work can be found in the comments below.

  1. Fukushima nuclear disaster

There were many effects which happened in Fukushima, there were many people sick and there were over 5000 workers affected. Also the air and the environment in Fukushima was polluted because contaminated air was distributed there.
Everything happened because of a great earthquake, one of the strongest in Japan’s history. It hit the north part of the country and caused also a tsunami with huge waves which destroyed almost everything along the north-east coast and seriously damaged the nuclear plant in Fukushima. The combination of these two natural disasters caused the nuclear disaster, and because of this terrible event people all over the world began to reconsider advantages and disadvantages of this kind of energy.

  2. 1) Elements used in Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant:

    1) There are lots of dangerous elements and most of them caused what today we call the Fukushima nuclear disaster, and they include: oxygen, hydrogen, uranium, plutonium and gas.
    2) Nuclear Power was the topic of my recent survey on energy product today: it talked about how much a N.P.P. costs, how many damages the Chernobyl disaster did, about how many Treaties about Nuclear Power there are and so on.
    3) The most dangerous: Plutonium.
When machined as it is to assemble atomic bombs a fine dust is generated, which emits alpha radiation. The radiation from even a small amount of plutonium dust inhaled into your lungs will give you lung cancer. Plutonium is therefore handled in sealed glove boxes. However, the dust can get in the ventilation system, as it did at the Rocky Flats plant outside of Denver, requiring an incredibly expensive cleanup if it is not to be released into the atmosphere.

    2) The event:

    1) On the 11 March, 2011 an earthquake shocked Japan and caused a tsunami that was larger than any else before.
    2) When the earthquake occurred the Reactors 1, 2 and 3 were operating, while 4, 5 and 6 had already been shut down for periodic inspection; 1, 2 and 3 underwent an automatic shutdown after the earthquake, and when they shutdown the plant stopped generating energy, stopping the normal source of power plant.
    3) The earthquake was followed by a 15 m tsunami arrived 41 minutes later which topped the plant.

    3) Damage caused by the earthquake and the tsunami
    1) The damage caused by the earthquake and tsunami was huge, with most of the damage caused by the tsunami.
The damage cost in the range of tens of billions of dollars.
    2) All of Japan’s ports were closed after the earthquake, 15 ports were located in the disaster zone. Around 4.4 million households in North Eastern Japan were left without electricity.
Several nuclear power plants were shutdown after the earthquake.
    3) Building damage cost € 45,700 and 300 hospitals were destroyed. The earthquake and tsunami created an estimated 25 million tons of rubble and debris in Japan.

  3. Fukushima disaster

March 11th, 2011 , at 14:46 the earthquake started. At the beginning of the earthquake most of the Japanese thought that it was just an ordinary earthquake, but it was not of the most hazardous effects occurred in
Fukushima. After the earthquake a tsunami happened which caused
big trouble in the reactor brought about huge problems not only for the japan, but also for world lots of people have died in the disaster. The result after the disaster was an evacuation from the area close to the nuclear power plant, because the radiation leak would contaminate everybody near the power plant and with the wind could spread all over the world.
After the disaster debates have been occurred among the worried world countries. Most of the people were against nuclear research and they wanted to stop working on nuclear plants. Most of the countries made
decisions: Germany decided to stop working on nuclear power, Turkey gave up building nuclear plants the situation was not different in others countries. the world has found itself in big trouble in just one week.
